You're looking for the fact that the same IP address is not filling up the logs with error messages. At most you should see only a few error messages from the same IP address, spaced widely apart.

But even with the tarpit in place you shouldn't be seeing so much crap coming through.
Unless you've installed a virtual domain alias catch-all.

It's not "coming through" anymore (I turned off the alias that it was running), but it still looks like a fair amount of annoying traffic, not to mention crap filling up my logs.

It's better that crap fills your logs, rather than your mailbox.
