If "courier-config" is in your path, run it and save its output.  Then 
use 'dpkg' to search for any courier and authlib packages, and then 
remove them.  After that, check for all of the paths that courier-config 
reported, and remove those, as well as "/usr/lib/courier".  At that 
point, you should be ready to reinstall Courier using apt-get.
