mailbot has a -A option that allows you to set headers of the 
autoresponse message.  See:

http://www.courier-mta.org/mailbot.html

you'll want toy around with adding the same relevant headers that 
Thunderbird does when you send the message to yourself...

No idea if this will work though, just a suggestion to try.
