Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.   I wasn't sure if there 
was an option for this in (perhaps a newer version of) mailbot, or if 
there was another program that could handle it.

I wrote a quick Perl script to create the new message and hand it off to 
mailbot.  It's working fine so far.  I know Perl is a bit heavy for an 
application like this, but this mailbox is low volume, so it shouldn't 
cause a problem.  Besides, I'm more comfortable programming Perl than 
shell scripts. :)
