Congratulations, Felicity & co.

All, don't pass up opportunities like this to add comments on the
paper's website that will help the online readers go beyond what's in
the story and make personal connections, more likely to get involved
in the movement.

Personal stories are great, anecdotes of how coworking has changed
your life (or at least your work), the challenges of life-work
integration (with or without kids), why your coworking space doesn't
include childcare or other "take it for granted" services that W-2
corporate salaried folks rely on and need to be ready to take care of
on their own as they prepare to make the leap from Working for the Man
to blissful independence/independents.

For best results, avoid touting your own space... even if it is a
groovy not-for-profit cooperative, it can come across as
commercial/spammy. No links. Longer than a tweet, shorter than a
mailing list message. Don't rely on paragraph breaks for formatting in
SF Chron comments, they all go away upon posting.

One of the phenomenons the Cubes & Crayons site references is
"onramping," helping parents re-enter the workforce; it seems to me
that we have a role to play in building "offramps," helping people
escape and realize they can take control of their career, their work,
their future. The more we can make it clear that coworking has some
"easy" "managed" options, the more folks I think we'll find crossing
over.

You can also think of it as our job to hang out on streetcorners,
dispensing red pills. (#TheMatrix reference)

back to Durham (NC) for a couple of weeks; interested in
coworking/Jelly happenings in the tri-cities, or perhaps an evening
MeetUp.
