Workantile Exchange is in a street level space, which allows us to partner with a coffee shop which sublets a portion of the space closest to the street. That kind of partnership with a retail entity probably wouldn't work anywhere but ground level.
A lot of people who come into the coffee shop ask about the coworking space, but very few of them come back for a visit and fewer still actually become members. (Most of our members come in through direct referrals, word of mouth and other marketing efforts.) But being in a heavily foot traffic location does raise the general public consciousness about coworking and the fact that it does exist here in sleepy little Ann Arbor.
