My "secret" to finding new members (I guess it isn't a secret anymore!) is this: Building up the community first before opening the space was priceless. About 60% of those people ended up buying memberships when we opened. Word of mouth--current members can offer anyone a buddy pass to try it out for free for a day. Involvement in local social or technical groups. Our town is heavy in Meetup so I belong to a fair amount of internet, blogging, design and technical groups. Never underestimating ye old local print newspaper. Despite the fact that none of my members read the newspaper, it still generates a fair amount of interest and buzz about coworking. Strategically following freelancers on twitter, seeing if they check in at a nearby coffee shop and then tweeting that they can pop into Cohere for the rest of the day for free to try it out....this has been surprisingly effective.
