I've only talked to a few of them, and they each said this seemed to come
from nowhere. Some have made some points that you and others listed, such as
this is our chance to innovate and stand out, and that the bank market the
term coworking and we will still gain from that. They've all mentioned that
they are not interested in working from a coworking facility owned by a
large corporation (and one of them who felt the strongest about that
actually is a client of this bank), and that what attracted them to us is
that we are independently owned and operated.

We've been talking with our members over the last few weeks about our
thoughts on expansion and involved a few of them to help work out the plan
for it, and what we can add to our existing way of creating a great space
could be really awesome to this city and is something that a) would take
anyone a long time to make happen and b) they didn't mention adding to their
plan (not to say it isn't there, but they didn't mention it), so our future
does hold some really great options for us.

So, thank you, everyone, for your quick and supportive responses, as always.
It still stings that they are so close, especially when there are other
vibrant parts of town that are in need of both their bank as well as a
coworking facility, but I've decided to reach back to a mantra I've heard
many times while working in the training and development industry: doing
all of your homework doesn't earn you a degree.
