We are starting to look into this up here. Over the past couple months we've been approached by a number of cities in Ontario to consult on planting a Creative Space. We're looking into a buyer's Co-op model and/or a launch kit with ongoing mentorship. We don't want to dictate to the level of a franchise though. And considering The Creative Space is a labour of love, volunteer project, we can't dedicate the energy into managing other spaces. We prefer to work with the local coworking manager and help make them succeed. It's now expanded to potentially combo-ing a community run coworking space with a business enterprise centre and accelerator/incubator program.
So far, the coworking kit idea includes: The Brand Training/Consulting (steps to launching and managing, connecting to the coworking community globally, administrating a coworking space and working with landlords/owners, City, etc) Marketing Materials- Brochures, cards, signage design, etc Custom city Website, emails, admin tools (web hosting and IT support) Social Media setup Terms/docs/ Ongoing mentorship Advertising templates hopper Brand/network leveraging around space/furniture/equipment improvements Simple resource portal for TCS plants (forum, documents, links to all you others doing and offering amazing tools and services around coworking) All this would come after making sure the market is there and community in the city can support it's launch. 6-12 months of groundwork is what I've recommended even before they "buy in." We don't know how much it should cost. The model is yet to be created. Much of the information and resources are and will be gleaned from those who have gone before us. If things go forward, we'll document, send updates and give props along the way.
