One of my holiday break projects was to put a spare laptop (with no harddrive) to use running tests with CPAN::Reporter::Smoker ... I wrote up this guide detailing how I set it up (there's material different than what's in http://wiki.cpantesters.org/wiki/CPANReporterSmokerLong), and how it's an easily repeatable process, the end result being able to just drop a CD & a USB key onto a machine, boot, push a start button, and it cranks away.
