Just thought this might be of some interest to the CRS teams on this
list - given the current number of CR stations, I suspect getting a
slice of this pie might provide a welcome source of revenue for many of
your stations!
Warmest,
Ramakrishnan

New Delhi: The government spent over Rs 217 crore on publicity from
January 1, 2008, to September 28, 2009.

The Directorate of Visual Publicity (DAVP) admitted that it issued
1,231 advertisements over this period costing over Rs 217 crore on
behalf of ministries and government departments.

In a move that could further expose misuse of public funds by
politicians for personal publicity, the Central Information Commission
(CIC) on Tuesday allowed disclosure of advertisements issued by the
government over one year. The panel has allowed disclosure of details
related to the number and cost of advertisements and those that have
photographs of politicians.

The CIC on Tuesday allowed RTI activist S C Agrawal to inspect files
relating to this information within 30 days.
