There are some really fine ones already out there, such as
Bk ReplacEm found at http://www.orbit.org/replace/ . It is
very powerful and could be run from a macro in CrEdit.
It would however, be nice to be able to do a project wide
find and replace with intelligence as to which files to work on
and in which directories.
