It is such a common problem, we almost need a Hudson job for it :) When ever you see " .... IOException2: remote file operation failed ...", the slave needs to be restarted. AFAIK it won't right itself.
I usually open a bug when I see it, but am fairly sure the webmasters will see your note here and restart it. In the meantime, you could try a different slave, if that'd be faster for you?
