Here's all I know.

ECF contributes org.eclipse.ecf.core feature, .... and I don't see either
httpclient or httpclient4 included explicitly in there. Guess you are
expecting some other bundle in there pulls in one or both? If so, it was
not in most recent 'staging' repo. There has been no new build, or
anything of 'staging' for over a week.

The wrinkle I know about is that for a while, the Platform was mistakenly
including httpclient (3) when all we intended to include was httpclient4.
I asked about this in bug 408915 ... mostly meaning to just ask about it
... and before I knew it, was removed by committer, so _we_ contributed
just what we wanted to, and not extra things that some people had come to
expect to be there, provided by others upstream from them. So, that was
the reason for my apology, assuming it was something Platform removed
"late", during RC period. Something we should not have done casually. And,
I know Gyrex was biten by this too.

But, if ecf.core was supposed to include this too ... then ... not sure
why that wasn't working.

Hope this helps give a little more data or insight.

I don't understand how that would be possible. ECF's own
repo/aggregator contribution didn't change...and I had assumed that the
aggregator didn't even do another build from yesterday to today...but I
suppose it's possible that it did do another build and somehow did
something different.

David...any ideas?
