I am wondering if we should do a limited SR release to pickup Java 8 patches. As it stands, Eclipse users interested in Java 8 would have to hunt for and install at least two patches, which doesn't paint Eclipse in a good light.

This bug https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-16902 makes that Java 8 support introduces something that will be felt as a major regression for most users. So I'm -1 for making Java 8 support part of a generally available SR3 until it contains this bug.
