Hello Ed, thanks for this input, however I am not talking about P2 repositories here.
For APT and YUM repositories I would like to provide a "stable" channel, which always points to the most recent release and a "release-x" channel which only has maintenance updates of this specific release. In order not to waste space on the download area, I thought that using a "symbolic link" seemed like a good idea.
