Subject: [cross-project-issues-dev] Mars.2 RC3 is available

It is official.

Mars.2 RC3 is now available for download or update.

You can download the EPP packages from the following URL:

https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php?release=mars

(There are about four still waiting for package maintainers to sanity check and
give their approval on the epp-dev list).

To test that "check for updates" works, you need to add the following URLs to
your software repository lists:

http://download.eclipse.org/technology/epp/packages/mars/SR2-RC3/
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/maintenance/

For testing "check for updates" and that "categories" are correct, I recommend
you start with "Mars" or "Mars.1" and that you disable all other repo sites,
and turn off the preference to "check other sites for dependencies." That makes
sure you are testing the RC3 site only.

Assuming that works ok, I think recommend you start over fresh, with all sites
enabled, and the preference for "other sites" enabled,
and make sure you get the same results and see the same things in 'categories.'

Moreover, don't forget -- you do not have to test only your favorite projects
-- try installing everything, or, at least, some larger set, and make sure
everything still works.

It is now past the time I say "test early, test often." Instead, my motto for
the next few weeks is "test, test, and test again!" :)
We want to avoid introducing regressions.

Plus, it helps if you 'verify' bug fixes, especially all the worst ones
(blocking, critical, major) -- and, also, any new function.

Thanks as usual for making the improvements to our (final) Mars update release
possible.

Best of luck getting your final bits ready.
