The +# days thing has never made sense, really. If you really chain dependencies I’m sure you’d get into double digits. In fact, CDT cycles on itself with a couple of other projects.
It's not perfect, but its better than nothing. At +1, we have EMF < UML < OCL, and worse OCL depends on XText at +2. We survive, only one OCL re-contribution in a couple of years.
Graphiti at +2, seems better.

Probably what would be better would be a better way to publicize API changes that affect downstream builds. Don’t really have an answer there but it is what causes problems. If APIs are well managed, in theory, you can build before you’re dependencies do.
I think that it would be reasonable to very strongly recommend that breaking API appear in an I-build a week before +0 so that nightly builds should detect problems comfortably before the last minute.

Just a thought,
Doug.

    David,

yes, you are right Graphiti is a framework. On the other hand we
have dependencies to GEF and EMF Transactions/Validation with is
    at +2.

Graphiti has been on +3 since it joined the release train, so far
it has never been an issue. Or at least these issues did not reach
    me.

In case any user of Graphiti struggles with this, this would be a
good time to speak up. I’m open towards changing to an earlier day
    in case that is required.

    Thanks,

    Michael

I believe Graphiti is a "framework", right? To be used by others?
As such +3 does not make much sense. +3 is more for "leaf"
components that no one else depends on. +1 or +2 makes more sense
to me, depending on what you depend on.

As always, feel free to correct any misconceptions I have.
