This past week in class I brought in several articles where Christians
were blamed for absurd things. One was an attack by Muslims on
Christians in Nigeria because they beleived Christian had prayed for
the death of one of their leaders. Apparently Islamic protest had
derailed and evangelical conference in the area shortening it to 2
days from the scheduled 5 and forcing it to change locations for
security concerns. When one of the Islamic leaders was later involved
in a car crash and eventually passed on the Muslims in the area
attributed this to the belief that Christians had prayed harm on him
and also prayed for him to die. Much violence ensued.
The second article had to do with Hindu's attacking Christian
communities in India. Christian missionaries had built several
popular schools and hospitals in the area and were being successful in
prostelytizing locals into the Christian faith. When a Hindu
prostelytizer was killed by Maoists rebels (Some terrorist group that
took credit for the killing) a band of extremist Hindus decided to
blame it on the Christians and attacked.

We talked a little about why do people blame Christians for what
befalls the. I know this is not an absolute but it is a very common
practice even here in America. I have some thoughts and suspect it is
a multi-layered issue that can be looked at very simply or very
complicated. I thought I'd solicit you alls thoughts...

talk to me peeps!!!
