Hi,

If you want to use the "-xwalk-command-line=--ignore-gpu-blacklist " option in
crosswalk-crodova, you can try to add a text file called
"xwalk-command-line"(no suffix) to assert/ directory of your android package.
This file should contain a single line, representing the xwalk command line to
run, the line would be:
xwalk --ignore-gpu-blacklist

More information in
https://crosswalk-project.org/documentation/about/faq.html#Canvas-and-WebGL-support.

Thanks,
Junwei.

Hello,

just a quick update about this issue. We have manage to make it work with
complete hw support. We had to tweek different flags and use crosswalks lastest
version in "master" to make it work.

Also as a side note, using Phonegap wrappern it would not provide hw
acceleration, we had to completely port the application to crosswalk to make it
work.

Best regards,

Manuel.

Hello,

It is very common GPU device is put to "blacklist". Last time we saw all
QUALCOMM GPUs are put to anti-alias blacklist by default. Maybe you can try the
command line switch "--ignore-gpu-blacklist "
You can add this flag by "-xwalk-command-line=--ignore-gpu-blacklist " When
you use make_apk.py

Some other suggestions from internal expert:

Consider Xwalk actually uses MediaCodec APIs for video playback, it should
share the same pipeline as the native video player.
One thing I think is to check which video format is using, H264, Vp8 .etc; as
well as to make sure the HW decoding for the specified type is supported, by
MediaCodec API checking. If it using codecs like 'oxm.google.*', it infers
still using SW decoding

You are very welcomed to use XWALK and our team is dedicated to resolve all the
issues customer met with XWALK. If you still have the issue after trying
different solutions, maybe we can figure out a way how to let XWALK engineer
debug on your device directly.
Thanks,

Subject: [Crosswalk-help] gpu_rasterization

Hello!,

we are doing some tests with xwalk to see if we can replace our current
phonegap based application. For us the most important feature is being able to
play videos at full HD (1080). This is something that our target android
devices are capable of doing without any problems as it can be demonstrated by
using the built in media player. The hardware is a dual core cortex A9 1.6Ghz,
with a Quad-core Mali 400 GPU. Android 4.2.2.

You can read more about it here:
http://www.minix.com.hk/Products/MINIX-NEO-X5mini.html

Now, when using xwalk we have two issues. The first one is that the video
playback takes between 2 to 5 seconds to start (while starting a video with
builtin media player is instantaneous), the other is that the video playback is
not very smooth, largest problem is that from time to time some "hack" appears
which makes it very noticeable.

I tried using latest version of Chrome (version 39), video decoding is even
worse here, very jerkey. In the chrome:\\flags<smb://flags> it says that it is
using hardware video decoding but not hardware rasterization (gpu_rasterization
disabled), seems like the GPU in this device is not fully supported. However we
can force it to use the GPU in chrome:\\flags<smb://flags>, and after that the
video playing is much better.

So my questions are:
1) Is GPU rasterization enabled by default in xwalk, or is it disabled as in
Chrome?, if so, can it be forced, and is it a good idea to do it?.
2) What other tips can you give me to improve the video playing performance?

Best regards,

Manuel.
