Hi Jonatan,
Yes, the package management had been removed, see the discussion at:
https://lists.crosswalk-project.org/pipermail/crosswalk-dev/2014-September/thread.html#1918.
We do have a plan for Debian based Linux support, however it hasn't been
official released yet. Once the support is released you can use
crosswalk-app-tools to build deb package (with
https://github.com/crosswalk-project/crosswalk-app-tools-deb as backend).
I think the external extension is not supported for the above tool atm,
but you can use --external-extensions-path switch to manually handle it
by changing the generated shell script.
Cheers,
Xiang

Hi list,
I'm looking to deploy a crosswalk app on a generic Linux system (not
Android, not Tizen). I am struggling to find out how I am supposed to
do this, and whether the CrossWalk project features package management
(installing, removing, updating packages).
It seems to me like there has been support for packaging[0] in the
past, but that this has been removed[1]?
I should probably clarify what I mean by packaging.. I am looking for
a way to bundle one or more crosswalk extensions together with HTML
and javascript in an archive. Probably sign the archive, and have this
registered by CrossWalk in some way, such that I can launch this
"bundle" with CrossWalk by referring to it using some logical name
("MyApp", rather than /my/app/index.html). I would also assume that
CrossWalk would store the archive somewhere, and be capable of
uninstalling it when requested - I am really imagining something akin
to rpm or deb files.
So, my question is then: Is there any packaging support built in to
crosswalk itself? It seems like Tizen and Android both have methods
for shipping crosswalk apps (wgt and apk?) - but does crosswalk have
its own format and tools (installer, package manager) for other platforms?
If there is no packaging support built-in, are there recommendations
for how to install CrossWalk applications (where do I put the
extensions, how do I launch the app, etc)?
