It is requiring a fstype to specified:
sudo mount -o loop ubuntu-12.04.2-server-amd64.iso /mnt/iso
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
If you look at the original error it is similar:

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

I would say that it is a bad image but I don't see any failures during the
build. I am running this as my local user and not root if that helps at
all.

Just as a sanity check, can you mount that ISO by hand via:
mount -o loop ~/.crowbar-build-cache/iso/YOUR_ISO.iso /mnt/disk
I've had problems with this in the past and it turned out that my ISO was
damaged/incomplete.
