All, I've uploaded the ISO that we used for our recent Ceph install demo to sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/crowbar/files/crowbar/unstable/download) and I've checked these steps against that ISO.
To use the demo, please note that you MUST * have at least 2 NICs installed on the nodes! * Have at least 3 nodes/vms (1 GB RAM min) + admin (2 GB RAM min) * Installs are the same as before (sudo /opt/dell/install_crowbar.sh admin.crowbar.com) * If you want to use the bootstrap wizard, then add "-wizard" Most of the actions are automatic until you get to the install Ceph part. You can watch these at the 1:20 mark of the training video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUpSS4B74b0). Here are the steps: 1) Deployments > create a new deployment 2) Network...Networks a. Create a new "ceph" network called "ceph". b. Set it in the deployment you just created c. Change the conduit to "1g2" d. You don't need an IP range because Ceph uses IPv6 only 3) Nodes...Bulk Edit > put your nodes into the [new] deployment 4) Deployments...Deployments...[new] > add role the following: a. Ceph-mon b. Ceph-osd c. Ceph-mds 5) Bind nodes to (this assumes that you have 4 nodes but the controller can be anywhere): a. Ceph-mon (3 nodes) b. Ceph-osd (3 nodes + controller) c. Ceph-mds (controller) 6) Commit the proposal 7) Get some popcorn and enjoy (you don't have to wait for discovery to finish! You can do this as soon as you have nodes) Rob ______________________________ Rob Hirschfeld Sr. Distinguished Cloud Solution Architect Dell | Cloud Edge, Data Center Solutions cell +1 512 909-7219 blog robhirschfeld.com, twitter @zehicle Please note, I am based in the CENTRAL (-6) time zone
