Growl offers a few different options that might work. In the Growl pref pane, under Display Options, you can select Speech and have your Growl notifications spoken. Alternatively, under Applications, you can add CCMenu and then click Configure... to set only that app to play sounds for every Growl notification. Not quite the same as CCTray but it's better than no sound. Hope that helps.
