as alot of ppl coming to #! comes because of the eee version and for other reasons, i think we should define a default install method using flashdrive and unetbootin. more testing should be done before we make it the default though.
burning an iso and installing from a live-cd is the usual way to install these days in the linux world, but i think its time to have flashdrive-install the default for #! (rest of the linuxworld will follow ;) ). 1. ppl need to bring more files with them when installing if network is not up yet. issues we had with backports breaking intel wireless after the .02 release is one reason. 2. ppl wanting to include/change default packages, is another ..as an example: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/740/vimfull-please/ we can make key packages easily available with their dependensies to be installed offline. in the long run, i think we have a solution that is easier for newbies and for us supporting them. more modular and easily upgradable. at least some of us should install the new releases to test them, not just upgrade. ideally like this: 1.install new release with unetbootin to flashdrive, move files over, settings, special modules and packages. 2.when booting from the flashdrive works as desired, -install it to hd/ssd please give feedback.. -- This message was sent by Launchpad via the Contact user/team link on your profile page.
