Hoi, I've prepared a Crux port for ex-vi [0]. Obviously this port has file collisions with core/vim. The same for my Berkeley yacc port and core/bison: Both provide /usr/bin/yacc.
[0] http://ex-vi.sf.net How should this be handled, if at all? As I haven't found comments on this topic, I assume that it's the system administator's task to take care about it. Either he installes only one of the packages or overwrites the conflicting files with the later installed package.
