Which is the status of AES regarding intellectual property ? The official Rijndael site says : "Rijndael is available for free. You can use it for whatever purposes you want, irrespective of whether it is accepted as AES or not. " So I guess it is in the public domain. But my questions are : - did the NIST set any restriction to the use of AES (especially about exportation outside the US) ? - are there legal restrictions regarding its *use* (mostly in Europe where cryptographic material is controlled according to the length of the key used) ? Thank you in advance for any information -- Cdric Mallet Hi Cedric, To reiterate Shawn, here's a link to the IP releases http://csrc.nist.gov/CryptoToolkit/aes/rijndael/ Jeff
