Hi everyone; I had this question which I had emailed to Wei Dai previously, and thought (with his permission) that the answer may be of use to others. I know it certainly was for me! If anyone else had a comment on using the FIPS certified library outside the specific test conditions in the certificate I'd be interested as well.
Adam -------------------- From: Wei Dai The 5.3's test platform is Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 x64 SP1. However, the security policy will say "the software Module remains compliant with the FIPS 140-2 validation when operating on any general purpose computer (GPC) running a compatible version of Microsoft Windows since the software of the Module does not require modification when ported." This is the same as for 5.2. If you need an official document to refer to, see Implementation Guidance for FIPS 140-2 (http://csrc.nist.gov/cryptval/140-1/FIPS1402IG.pdf) G.5 subsection User. Please go ahead and forward this to the mailing list. ----- Original Message ----- Subject: FIPS Platforms for 5.3/5.4? > Hello; > > I had a quick question. I have gotten some feedback that running the application on Windows > XP or Windows Vista means it is not certified anymore. Your documentation > (which I have read all I can) seems to say that any "General Purpose > Computer" would be sufficient, but I cannot find a reference to send to my > contacts. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the "Crypto++ Users" Google Group.
