Yeah, that's normally what I do. But be sure to avoid the BAD states listed 
at https://cryptopp.com/wiki/Gnumakefile#Compiling_and_Linking. Its a fine 
line in recommending the building from sources because its easy to get into 
one of those bad states when you are not aware of them.

I should have sent this last night: 
https://www.cryptopp.com/wiki/Linux#Linux_Distributions. Often you need 
more than just the libcryptopp package. You usually want libcryptopp-dev 
and libcryptopp-dbg, too.
