Hi I just want to publicly acknowledge and thank Murray Downes from Niche Software and Associated Logic Ltd, Michael Durie from Think Direct and Andrei Link from Trimble for their excellent promotion presentations yesterday (Friday) as part of Canterbury Software's marketing workshop series.
Michael explored the challenges of marketing today when the three scarcest resources are time, attention and trust. He looked at ways to think about marketing so the one-to-one, personalised relationship is extrapolated with the help of technology so that every customer is known and served in an individual way. Andrei extended this by looking at the Weapons of Mass Construction - search engines, newsgroups, opnion leaders, email newsletters, direct e-marketing, affiliate programs and viral marketing. He showed how good impact can be made using these techniques for a reasonable cost. Murray talked about the face-to-face sales relationships, particularly in North American and European markets. He showed how thee human presence is essential, but that it can be supported by systematic technology-based promotion. He also highly recommended flight BA178 as the one least likely to cause jet lag. :) Copies of the presentations will be available in the next couple of days on the software cluster website. Stay tuned for the next workshop, on product development, in early June.
