I have recently been sent a PDF of a Discussion paper from the MED (Ministry of Economic Development) "Review of the Patents Act of 1953". This paper mainly considers biotechnology, but includes a few pages on patents in business methods and software, which may interest some members of this group.
The review group is seeking feedback from interested parties. There is a list of questions at the end of each section of the paper which they are interested in hearing views on. The deadline for submissions is the 26th July. If anyone is interested, the paper can be found on the MED web site at: http://www.med.govt.nz/buslt/int_prop/patentsreview/index.html The original version of this discussion paper came out in March, before I joined this group, so I hope I'm not repeating something that has already been covered! While I'm writing: some of you may also wish to track back up a level on the MED web site to their intellectual property page and check links there, including to trademarks, copyright, etc., and and article from last year: "Digital Technology and the Copyright Act 1994: A Discussion Paper".
