Jonathan
Baskeyfield, a senior tax consultant at KPMG in Christchurch, is
interested in arranging a clinic offering advisory services to start
ups.
He has
recently arrived from KPMG Manchester, where he gave advice regarding
research and development to start-up companies emerging from the Manchester
universities. A team from KPMG made
up of auditors and tax staff visited university incubation units once a
month and discussed business issues that ranged from basics such as
accounts and tax filing dates to the complexities of venture capitalist
funding. The two-hour sessions, which aimed to identify problems
before they arose and deal with them early, were provided free of charge by
KPMG as part of their local business community initiative.
Jonathan would like
to arrange a similar "clinic" in Christchurch and would be grateful for
