Hi Vicki,

The idea you suggested where people get to showcase their wares sounds
excellent to me. Not only does it allow people some hands-on on some
locally produced solutions, but the feedback from the group would be
extremely valuable. I don't know of any other method that would be as
effective for getting immediate first impressions and criticisms for a
software package from a group of like-minded talented people.

As a matter of interest, the CanTech cluster just being formed
(www.cantech.co.nz) recently had such a meeting. I personally found
it very useful for getting high quality feedback from other engineers
on the software I've written.

In light of recent events, the future of the Canterbury Software
Cluster looks very bright. It's something I'd like to be a part of,
however early next year I will be moving to Europe (Berlin, DE). This
will allow me to be closer to my target market, a market that really
doesn't exist in New Zealand. I hope to keep an eye on what the
Cluster is up to however, and would be interested to act as a
go-between for members of the cluster if they are interested in
forming or strengthening European relations.

Success!
