The
Christmas Penguin and I would like to see:
Firmer
agreement with govt on how they will embrace NZ's software products and services
in their purchasing decisions, with roles and processes to make it happen,
building on the momentum and goodwill generated from the Trevor Mallard
session
Stronger and clearer links between the organisations which influence
Canterbury's hi-tech future: CDC, govt bodies, tertiary sector, Canterbury
Software, Canterbury Electronics Group and whichever Canterbury Electronics
cluster succeeds, CECC, CMA, professional firms etc - preferably being
mutually supportive, avoiding duplication and bureacracy - maybe assisted by a
CDC monthly webzine giving a round-up of what each org is doing (including
themselves) to make the ICT Task Force report a reality - with contact details
and a summary of what other regions are doing too (so we don't get too
one-eyed)
Lobbying, cajoling etc the Press to get better Press coverage of hi-tech
so kids and their parents think it's a great field to be in - eg. setting role
models, getting behind the Task Force project, (? to spur people to greater
action/interest?)
More
CS seminars (because they're directly valuable AND I get to know people
better over real discussions than over a beer) - the session on web marketing
was especially good, another marketing session and a psychologist session on
teamwork, maybe involving the University, would be interesting and Cate's
breakfasts are a MUST!
A really good, dynamic showcase of
Canterbury Software companies, their products and services on the CS site + good
web marketing and links to the new TradeNZ site and
others
... and I'd be interested in helping out from
time to time so maybe a 'call for volunteers' in putting together special events
to spread the load AND spread the networking
opportunities.
Hugs for Christmas - from utopian
Sue!
