This could be a life saver. Only other thing I might suggest is that
perhaps it could be a simple server-side script that you could host
somewhere and then have a web interface (using an sqlite backend,
perhaps) so that you would only have your one utility performing one
API query (instead of multiplied by the number of admins installing
it). Then, you allow people to add their email address via a simple
web page. When updates come in, you ping them via email.
Or, even, you could have it automatically post to a twitter account.
Each admin could follow the twitter account and (manually or
programmatically) each admin could determine how to handle the update.
That seems like the lightest way to do it.
Either way, some solution is definitely needed over the current
situation, so thanks for making this effort!
