You could set your motd file to something else using

motdfile "my_motd.txt"

In you server.cfg file.

Yeah, overwriting motd.txt is frustrating. Is there any way to prevent it without disabling validation of other files?

    Just remove validate.

    Use:
    app_update 740

I set the steamcmd autoupdate in the server startup line:

        -------

        -autoupdate -steam_dir ~/steamcmd/ -steamcmd_script
        ~/steamcmd/update.txt

        update.txt:

        login anonymous
        force_install_dir ../csgo/
        app_update 740 validate
        exit

        -------

But during the update steamcmd removes the configuration files and
motd.txt and replace them with default files. Anyone has
        encountered the
        same problem?
