Oh, well, didn't know this. But are maps getting 'flagged' based on their
player-rating to prevent a heavily flawed map to be used on servers with
that new convar? That may be something to add, at some point.

*RATE WORKSHOP MAP* is in the ESC menu.

It’s probably not as frictionless a method to rate maps as we would ideally
like but it’s the solution we have at the moment.

I suggested in the steam forums that players be able to hit tab, scroll up
the scoreboard just like they can to get to a players steam page, and hit
enter on the map name, opening the steam workshop page. It would fit
seamlessly with the current ui.

Exactly, no need for a blacklist.

My idea: If players would be able to "rate" new maps ingame, kinda like a
small survey (map evaluation questionnaire) at map-end or after they
leave, for a small period of time while the maps is new in workshop. This
could trigger an automated system that removes the map from the workshop
(or 'disables' it) and notifies the creator/uploader about the issues.

This way broken maps would be disabled and corrected, good maps would get
their earned positive feedback. Maybe even integrate results from those
surveys into the workshop. Fair on all sides.

I don't get what you mean. The cvar enables/disables the ability for
people to reserve your server.

That solves the issue of a black list other wise it doesn't matter what map
they go to the admins not there to care because the server is empty.

I don't know, I think the idea of a blacklist is silly either way. It just
seems like your idea is incredibly irresponsible if you really wanted to
put in a blacklist.

If you have a "specially modded" server, just disable that convar and use a
collection to cycle it through maps you want the server to play?

The opposite is true. It makes more sense for one server operator to
blacklist a map from his own specially modded server instead of having a
map get blacklisted for the entire community just because it doesn't work
on a few special servers or because a few players trolled the blacklist
system.

Hi Steve,

I like your idea, but thinking about the mapmakers, I'm not sure that
this is the way to go by just blacklisting certain maps! Plus you will
never be able to blacklist all maps that causes problems, especially
if cs:go cnmtinues to grow it's userbase!

To solve this problem, I think there should be an option for players
to report problems on a map while being ingame, and then the map
(depending on the feedback it received) should be automaticaly be put
on a blacklist by valve, and the creator should be notified se he can
fix it! Letting server operators blacklist maps on their own will
result in confusion and even abuse!

I really like valves idea with the new convar (especially since it's
defaulted to "1"). Benefits everyone in a way or another!

Simcerely,
Glenn
