Open to students, Business community, International development agencies ,civil 
society organisations, media & government administartors.

The `1st Habitat Summit' has been planned as a multi-layered event to focus 
attention on the state of our cities, and to debate strategies for improving 
their liveability, competitiveness and environmental sustainability.1st Habitat 
Summit, will take place from 24-26 September, 2009.The key elements of the 
'Summit' are : 3-day conference with plenary, panel, and town hall sessions, 
and a supplementary masterclass for policy makers and practitioners engaged in 
developing the built environment,a public-facing expo in association with 
`Champion Cities' intended to create a buzz and enthusiasm amongst citizens at 
large, that will feature a green careers fair for urban development 
professionals and future leaders, and a  showcase community-oriented urban 
regeneration project in association with `Champion Cities'.The purpose of the 
event is to serve as a tool to "influence the influencers".Registration fee 
applicable for the summit.

 

The Urban Habitats Forum Fellows Program is designed to provide talented 
students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 with an interest 
in urban issues with financial sponsorship covering their delegate fees to 
attend the 1st Habitat Summit.There are no restrictions on becoming a Fellow, 
except that nominees must be between 18 and 35 years of age. Students and young 
professionals from all backgrounds can apply to the Fellows Programme.The UHF 
Fellows Programme was established to enable quality students and young 
professionals between the ages of 18 and 35 to attend the 1st Habitat Summit. 
Through an application and selection process, chosen Fellows will be linked to 
benefactor donors and organisations.
