Hi, I am pretty sure, your friend Mary Lou Jepsen would never give me 100 laptops to sell if I would say that, hey I would sell your laptops at 1/100th the price, all marketing and distribution cost mine, but sadly I wouldn't be paying your organization anything for those 100 laptops.
And talking about hard work. I put up a lot of energy while giving my end semesters, should I ask my teachers to pay me for that ? P.S. : Blood Diamond was a good movie. So, I didn't know the details of this initiative before it evolved on this group. Over the last 24 hours, I spoke with Bhatia Sir, Aditya, Abhishek and Hemant to understand the scenario. From what I could gather from the discussions, it seems that CSI-NSIT is indeed charging much less than what it should charge. It seems marketing and distribution costs for Windows costs 10 times higher. Sure, that might be the case. Reminds me of a close friend, Mary Lou Jepsen from Pixel Qi. She once told me an interesting insight on the sales of laptops. She said that the marketing and distribution costs of any normal laptop accounts for 65-70% of the total costs associated with it. Display device accounted for less than 25% was an interesting fact I realized from that discussion. And, Microsoft is very happy that CSI-NSIT are helping them reduce the distribution of pirated versions - a major investment goes in that direction. So, in my humble opinion, I think that the board might want to scale up the fees to Rs. 400 or Rs. 500 considering the amount of energy put up by second year executive board members in the middle of end sems. End sems are very important, guys. You should get into the ghissu mode now. On a separate note, I found the style of discussions very interesting. Reminds me of the storyline of "Blood Diamond". Craig Mundie, hats off to you, friend. You are very smart business guy indeed.Good luck with Windows 7. Your product has already received enough publicity on CSI yahoo group :-) Regards, Manu ________________________________ Now, send attachments up to 25MB with Yahoo! India Mail. Learn how.
