Forget it. Browsers come with explicit "Do not print background
colours and images" options switched on by default.

The best you are likely to be able to achieve (while still using IR
for screen) is to have plain text (i.e. no IR) for your print media
style sheet.

Or you could just put your content images in the content with <img>
instead of in the optional style layer.
