Hi Ingo, Thanks a lot for looking into this issue further.

You are absolutely right, and I agree with you in this matter: there's nothing wrong with one wrapper div in the html. Or some, if they are really needed. Off course - if possible - there's also nothing wrong with leaving out a div if that div isn't necessary. That's the point of the questions here. > And I can't see the point why the recommendation to omit an additional > div should help CSS beginners to become better coders. Maybe the way I stated my reply wasn't very clear. I was not recommending anybody to omit an additional wrapper div. I gave the examples in hope that some of the members of this list, with more experience in this specific issue, would know if there are any problems when omitting the wrapper div. So basically it was more of a question on my side too. As your examples show, there seem to be some rather serious problems in IE 5.5, IE 6 quirks and opera. (I can confirm the problems you found) Thanks a lot for showing us these test-cases. Shame on me for being too lazy to set them up myself ;).... cheers, Matthijs ______________________________________________________________________ css-discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/
