XHTML 1.1: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml-modularization/abstract_modules.html#s_extformsmodule XHTML 1.0 (defined by HTML 4.01): http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#h-17.4 If it doesn't validate, that's a bug in the validator.
