I've seen the new IE developer toolbar [1] brought up a couple times now, and of course the Aardvark [2] and Web Developer [3] FireFox extensions, but perhaps not everyone knows about the bookmarks from slayeroffice.com. The bookmarks, when clicked, bring up a little window (using JavaScript) that tells you information about the different parts of the page when you hover over them, and has been invaluable to me. Being a bookmark, it's not limited to one or two browsers. There are two versions, and both have their strengths.
