45 validation errors? I don't know if one of those errors is causing your problem but a lot of possible causes could be eliminated by having a page with valid markup. As a fairly new developer one of the most valuable tools I use is http://www.validator.w3c.org
Folks on this list are an invaluable resource, but it's good to remember we all spend a lot of our time wading through each other's code to meet the challenges presented. It's cool to start with a page that has the errors that are easily eliminated by the page-builder taken care of. :) After that, abundant help is usually forthcoming.
