Using the build-in style switching feature in Fx (1.0.5/1.5b2), I wasn't able to reproduce the problem, neither on Alex' original file nor on a modified "standalone version" of your code snippet (unfortunately, code snippets are next to useless for debugging). Please provide an URL to a minimal test case which reproduces the problem with the Fx version you are testing in, the problem would be serious for the mentioned technique.
