I even used the "Web Accessibility Toolbar" to change the value of the width and I saw the sidebar content jumping back up. Very weird. Sorry for the false alarm... Anyway, while I was trying to reproduce the drop, I found out that there is a jump when I hover my cursor over the headings (main column).
