I am working with an existing website that has a table-based layout. Layers and
layers of nested tables, yet. I'm hoping in the next big update to go to a
whole non-table site, but that's in the plan for the futre.

At the moment, I need to add a search box to the navbar. The nav is being
produced from Macromedia Fireworks, which spits it out in a table. An example
of this item is at http://www.quickshift.com/test3.shtml -- in this test file,
I've stripped out all the Macromedia scripting and drop-down menu stuff, and
I've pulled all the CSS I'm using into the test file for convenience.

In Firefox, the whole thing looks good. In MSIE6, unfortunately, no matter
what I've tried the browser is putting about one pixel between the two rows
(you can see this where the bottom of the "Q" logo on the left is broken).

I tried a lot of things in the process of forcing this to behave even in
Firefox, and so I'm not sure what of the CSS and absolute WIDTH/HEIGHT specs in
the HTML is really necessary. I'm also not sure what to try next to get rid of
the unwanted gam between the two rows here.

I would be extremely appreciative of any suggestions for fixes and improvements!
