There's been rumors the new Intel based Powerbook might be introduced in January. But then if you need to buy one this year for tax deduction purpose, you should buy a current model anyway. I'd be a little wary of buying a first generation model, even though Apple supposedly has been working on the Intel Macs for a long time.
