It is the first time that I try to make a site made without any tables. At
first it seemed all going well and smooth: http://www.taleofgondolin.com/
(I was looking at Safari and Camino for Mac). Here is the style sheet I use:
http://www.taleofgondolin.com/images/style.css

Then I started to look at other browsers (like IE) and everything went from
smooth to a big nightmare. When I looked at a Windows PC and at IE I really
got messed up. The 3 columns were not all the same height, the background
image in the left column starts to low, the middle column floats somewhere
at the bottom right where it does not belong, etc etc... I started to change
things, tried several fixes (I found on the internet); but nothing works.

I'm now at a point where I like to just throw away all I did and just start
working with tables again. Why oh why does it not look the same? What do I
do wrong?

Please do not mind the content or the colors... Also the text needs to be
put in a proper layout still, but I want the the three columns to work
first. Hope you can help me out... Thanks
