yes, I can see the logos pic when the bug occurs.

so there is not much evidence for this alt thing.

I think it's not a float drop as usual, as it is not reproducible locally.

Those seeing it online cannot see it twice in one session, only 
initially. Possibly it's related to the incremental rendering of big 
pages plus connection plus cache. Clearing the cache in IE should have 
the same effect, but no. Once the page was rendered, the float drop is 
gone. That's why I had to rename the folder each time to see the bug. 
And with an empty alt string, the float drop vanishes, here on my side 
at least.

If this is real, it must be related to the problem with the missing 
image you are mentioning. Maybe there is a short moment of ambivalence 
where IE does not really know if it is there or not.
